On our 3 other transits through Delhi, we visited various attractions including Sanjay Colony (a proper slum), The Red Fort, Jama Masjid – Asia’s biggest mosque, and the Gandhi museum.
We spent 2 weeks in Rishikesh, known as the “yoga capital of India”. Here we did yoga, meditation and Ayurvedic treatments, while also taking the time to explore this magical city and just enjoy the vibe.
We experienced our first (but not last) look at the holy river Ganga in Haridwar. For 3 days we immersed ourselves amongst dedicated worshipers who flock here to bath in the holy water.
Shimla was a popular hillstation holiday place for the British during the occupation years, and now is the same for well-to-do Indians. We took the opportunity to unwind here for a few days on our way from the North to the South of India.
